Alain Berinstain, Ph.D., an internationally recognized leader in space research and business, has been named director of the Florida Space Research Consortium, a statewide partnership designed to align Florida’s universities around space research, innovation and workforce development.
Berinstain, who is also director of the Florida Space Institute at the University of Central Florida, has more than 30 years of experience spanning government, industry and academia. Throughout his career, he has led major space initiatives, advanced international collaborations and worked to expand opportunities across the rapidly evolving space sector.
The consortium is a statewide partnership uniting Florida’s major research universities — Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University, Florida A&M University, Florida Institute of Technology, Florida International University, Florida State University, the University of Central Florida, the University of Florida and the University of South Florida — with government, industry and investment partners to accelerate space‑related research, innovation and workforce development.
